Headshot Guide for Women

There is nothing more frustrating than spending countless hours reading online articles and receiving vague advice while preparing for a photoshoot. Having been in front of the camera several times, I have created this guide to assist you in preparing in the most professional manner possible. I made sure to set aside a few days to indulge in a massage, facial, and hair appointment to mentally prepare for my upcoming photo shoot. This ensured that I would feel relaxed, confident, and at ease on the day of the shoot.

Words that Make Smiling Easy & What to Wear

PREPARE! PREPARE! PREPARE!

To prepare for your shoot day, create a checklist beforehand with all the necessary items. Prioritize getting enough sleep and staying wellhydrated two days prior to the shoot to ensure a glowing and hydrated complexion.

Headshot List

  1. Prepare for travel by ironing your shirts and blouses and hanging them on hangers in the car.

  2. Makeup Bag

  3. Hair Ties

  4. Bring at least 2 to 3 different outfits so you can have a range of looks.

  5. Limit the amount of jewelry worn in order to avoid drawing attention away from the face.

  6. Familiarize yourself with framing by practicing your poses with the camera on your iPhone. This will also help you determine which side you prefer to be photographed from, as some individuals have a preference for their right versus their left side.

  7. Pamper yourself with a DIY facial the day before and remember to nourish your skin with moisturizer.

  8. Keep hair and makeup natural.
